San
Francisco City Hall
Historic San Francisco City Hall supporting the City’s offices and courtrooms was built in 1912 and is an existing steel frame with masonry infill structure. Following the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, the building was severely damaged.
TME's Engineering services included seismic damage survey and development of upgrade solutions which included damage assessment; analysis of the buildings existing lateral capacity; peer review of non-structural elements; preliminary design through Construction Documents and Construction Administration for seismic upgrade of the dome and drum. Steel bracing added at dome base was thoughtfully detailed for ease of construction.
