Point
Reyes Lighthouse
Point Reyes Lighthouse, constructed in 1870, is located on the westernmost tip of the Point Reyes Peninsula, subjected to a severe marine environment. The lighthouse, is described as one of the finest examples of iron plate lighthouses in the country and is a registered historic landmark. The project was in two phases with he first being the repair and stabilization of the 300 concrete steps down to the lighthouse. The site is a deteriorating bluff creating a structural challenge, in which TME worked closely with NPS in developing a durable and safe concrete stairway system in a complex site. The project was cited by the President of the United States as a successful National Park Service Project. The second phase was an evaluation and analysis of the lighthouse’s existing cast-iron structure. A report describing the repair and detailing was completed.
