Ross
School
Design of new two-story steel and wood classroom building, the first public school to incorporate “green” building principles. TME’s services included the schematic phase through construction administration. Ross was the first school to specify FSC-certified framing, and the ACQ pressure-treated lumber was also FSC-certified. All cement in the concrete was up to thirty percent flyash, which creates reduced levels of greenhouse gases during manufacturing. TME developed a truss to support the balcony, which eliminated the columns below and became a significant architectural feature.
